Get in the Summer Festival Spirit this August at Isetan Shinjuku!
The sultry heat of the Tokyo summer has visitors wanting to relax, cool off, and get in the holiday mood the moment they touch down. Even for long-term residents, the season is synonymous with long nights, resort wear, fireworks illuminating the sky, and the many other distinctive tastes of summer.
Luckily, Isetan Shinjuku's Summer FES 2018 is underway. Until August 21, almost every department in the Main Store and Men's Building is getting in on the action with a whole host of events and limited shops to make sure you get the most from the season in style.
For fashion, beach, and resort wear, this is the season to shop. As regular readers will know [[YUKATA-LINK]], tradition is on trend with a number of events representing the here and now of yukata fashion. The Kimono Section has some of the most impactful yukata designs you are likely to see, with bright colors and beautiful contrasts ensuring that you shine as brightly as the festival fireworks!
For contemporary fashion, men will want to head to the Second Skin pop-up on the first floor of the Men's Building until August 14th. The 100% paper-yarn basics don't just look great, the textile has been a Japanese summer favorite for centuries thanks to its breathability and coolness to the touch.
To get the kids in the summer holiday mood, KIDEA has teamed up with popular Disney characters for fun wooden balancing games the whole family can enjoy. Find them on the sixth floor until the 14th. And, for the young at heart, don't miss the Moomin characters popping up in store on a range of towels for all ages until August 21st at the fifth-floor Bath and Powder Room Section.
Finally, for food, don't forget to visit the basement Food Hall throughout the festival for plenty of charming, themed food that is perfect for summer.
