Bread Lovers of the World Unite for "ISEPAN!" at Isetan Shinjuku

Following on from its successful showing last year, "ISEPAN!" is back and on a much bigger scale than ever! A festival of bread that gathers the best boulangeries and artisanal bread, don't miss out on this once-a-year chance to step into the world of Japanese bread.

While it is true that traditionally Japan didn't have an image as a bread eating country, it took until the late 19th century to gain popularity and now a firm favourite. Moreover, like so many additions to the Japanese dinner table, bread-making has evolved into something truly special, so no matter where you are from you will find something new to discover.

Needless to say, "ISEPAN!" will be host to some of the most famous names in the bread business, and our team of buyers have also scoured the whole of Japan to find interesting and quirky bakeries that will be new even to seasoned Tokyoites. With many bakeries offering fresh takes on Western classics and treats that bridge Japanese flavours with the world, this is a celebration of the possibilities of bread, and a delicious one at that.

If the smell of freshly baked bread isn't inviting enough, we have also gathered a selection of especially photogenic, seasonal, and occasionally surprising breads that you will spice up your social media. Join the Instagram hashtag #isepan and share your favourite.

If you can't wait to tuck in, then head to the Eat In area where you can enjoy your breads with a variety of craft beers and a line-up of award-winning coffees that changes by the day.

Take this chance to savour breads from some 40 bakeries, and don't delay as many items are only available in strictly limited quantities and sure to sell out fast.
