Kagami Biraki Ceremony, January 2nd 2018, 11:20-

189_02.jpgAn important ceremony to mark times of celebration in Japan, the kagami biraki cracking open of a barrel of Japanese sake is a tradition practiced to the present day. To mark the first performance of 2018 at the historic Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Theater you are all invited to join us for this celebration along with guests from the world of theater.

Live Ikebana and Taiko Drumming, January 2nd 2018, 13:00-

Bridging the duel disciplines of Japanese Taiko drumming with ikebana flower arranging on a dramatic scale we find contemporary Taiko group Gocoo meeting with floral artist Bisen from the Sōgetsu-ryū school of ikebana taking over the Cetntral Hall for an unforgettable performance.

Traditional Edo Performing Arts from Kasai Satokagura, January 3th 2018, 14:00-

189_03.jpgAn institution beloved of Edo, both the era and the city now known as Tokyo, this is a rare chance to enjoy the satokagura style of performing arts in the heart of the east of the city where the style was born.

Edo Era Acrobatics in the Central Hall, January 4th 2018, 11:10-


Each year the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association's acrobatic performance is a consistent draw for people far and wide who come to marvel at the feats of balance and bravery that kept the old city of Edo safe, as well as their traditional merchant song.

Live Calligraphy from Local Students January 6th - 8th, 2018, Everyday 12:30- and 14:30-
